Grey, overcast skies dulled the colours and wet the old stone paths, chasing away many day visitors and discouraging residents from venturing outside their mock Italian buildings. Designed and built between 1925 and 1975, Portmeirion looks over the River Dwyryd, just South East of the Welsh town Porthmadog. At low tide, the river reflected nothing but grey… Endless grey broken only by the numerous sand banks. With dulled colours and empty paths, it is hard to believe the little village is one of the top tourist attractions in Wales.
